While we don't like to admit it, death is a part of everyone's life. And one of the issues that is getting more and more attention is the place of euthanasia, or physician assisted suicide, the intentional assisting of a patient to die by a medical professional. It sounds like a humane way to deal with someone's suffering. But is it the right path to walk down?Eavesdrop in on univerisity buddies Matt and Brian, fellow med-school students and tennis partners, as they unpack the pros and cons of this important issue over breakfast one Saturday morning. This engaging dialogue is designed to bring clarity to this important subject that will affect all of us. Euthanasia - What About Physician Assisted Suicide?
This paper was written as part of Mike Penninga's Masters of Arts in Christian Studies program, for a class entitled "Social Ethics & Christian Faith".

I had another huge "ah-haa" moment this week. Michelle and I took the kids down to Oliver to join up with the Alive Gleaners team. It was good for us to get out of the house and be with friends, as we cut peppers, sang songs around the campfire, and had fun. No one had more fun than my daughter Mira, who loved life at the Gleaners!

We live in one of the most beautiful places on earth, and there is nothing better than getting together with friends on a warm, Okanagan summer evening. That's why Alive spends the summer outside, Monday nights, at Ben Lee Park in Rutland.
This year, we are making the change to meet every Monday night from June 16-August 25, 6:30 - 8:30pm at Ben Lee. What can you expect? Every second Monday we'll gather for sports, hanging out, accoustic worship, and Bible study. The other Mondays we're organizing some great big group events like car rally / scavenger hunter, water regatta, survivor night, and movie under the stars.
Alive in the Park is a great, relaxed environment where you can meet other people in that 18-30 year old age category, have a ton of fun, and be encouraged in your faith. So grab a few friends and join Alive in the Park this summer!

What condition is our heart in? Do we open our heart to Him and treat Him with honor, even if it is embarrassing? Can non-Christians see from our actions that we love Jesus? Is our self-righteousness and judgment of others keeping them and ourselves from the grace we so desperately need? We need to check the state of our heart. What influence do those you spend your time with have on you? Are they influencing you for good? Or are they pulling you away from God and that which is pleasing to Him? |
