What is faith? Can faith co-exist with doubt? If I am having doubts does that mean I do not have faith? How do I have faith when nothing seems to make sense and I am wondering if God really is who He says He is and really can do what He says He can do?

After our discussion on Tuesday night about being the hands and feet of Jesus, I really started to think about what that would actually look like. What does it mean to move beyond our safe world and actually be the hands and feet of Jesus in our world? What does it look like? How do I actually take that concept and apply it in my world today? What exactly did Jesus call us to when He called us to be His disciples? How do I do that?

What do you do when things in life don't make sense? How do you handle things when it seems like what is happening to you or to people you care about don't seem fair? Do you run to God? Or do you run from God?

"Until He has us out of our element - and into His - we will never see His glory. We will always be deaf to what He was trying to say."

What are the thoughts that go through your mind when you read this? What are the experiences in your life? When have you learned and grown the most in your relationship with Christ? Have you allowed God to take you out of your element and bring you into His? Or have you fought this when He's tried to do it in the past?

 

Have you ever gone off into complete solitude for a while? Now I don’t mean solitary confinement (TORTURE!) or anything of that sort. Rather, have do you ever take time to just go and be in complete silence somewhere? It almost seems weird in the world of noise-music-talk-radio that we live in today. People would probably go through some sort of separation anxiety if they had their mp3 player removed from their tight grasp or perfectly indented pocket. Necks and ears would feel naked without earphones and their cords strategically in place. Car rides would seem longer without stereo noise. Our hands would be fidgety without our cell phone. Can you imagine?

 

Earlier this year at Alive we considered our stories -- who your story has made you to be now, or what your story is shaping out to be in the future. We all have a story. Some people have quite dramatic stories -- ones fit for the next and greatest action flick if they threw in a few explosions, or perhaps it requires a box or two of kleenex. Never the less, we all are all living our current story. .... Or, are we?
